چکیده

For assessment of organic matter input into the soil system information on the elements of primary production by overlying vegetation is quiet essential. Hence the primary objective in this study was to investigate the primary production and organic matter input into the study sites and to estimate the organic matter. Total below ground and above ground ratio was 4.68:1 and 4.94:1 in organic and conventional farming systems, respectively. Net annual increment in productivity was found to be more in organic than in conventional one. The contribution to net production by above ground biomass was more than below ground biomass. The efficiency of energy capture was maximum in rainy for both the systems.

Evaluation of wheat genotypes under tillage practices: application of technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution method

Adoption of conservative agriculture at farm level is associated with reducing the production costs and leads to crop yield stability. The aim of this study was to prioritize experimental treatments based on different criteria by applying "technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution" (TOPSIS).A filed experiment was carried out at Zarghan research station, Fars province, Iran,...

Individual and interactive effects of crop type and management on weed and seed bank composition in an organic rotation

We investigated the effects of organic and conventional pest and fertility management on weed cover and the seed bank community in an organic rotation. The study was conducted during the 4th and 5th years of an organic rotation on part of a long term organic-conventional comparison trial. Results showed that although crop type (potato vs. cabbage) in a single year significantly affected wee...

Impacts of different tillage practices on some soil microbiological properties and crop yield under semi-arid Mediterranean conditions

Effects of six tillage practices on some soil microbiological properties and crop yields were evaluated for a clay soil (Typic Haploxererts) under semi-arid Mediterranean conditions in a three year study (2006-2009). The experiment was designed as a completely randomized-block with three replications. Treatments were: conventional tillage with residue incorporated (CT1), conventional tillage wi...
